Klideris
General Giorgos Klideris — Brigadier of the Hellenic Police (ret.), former Deputy Director of General Security. A path of conflict, experience and political consistency.
The strength of the movement is a person — and the proof that he knows what he is doing
Institutional Refoundation does not rest on promises. It rests on a man who lived the state from the inside, at the top of the security services, and who, every time principle came into conflict with position, chose principle — at a personal cost.
Three ruptures. One constant: legality and the control of every power.
With the vested interests inside the state
From the Gendarmerie Officers' Academy (1965–1967) he was one of the few democratic cadets; under the Dictatorship he was labelled “centre-left” and placed under surveillance. In 1981 he was appointed aide-de-camp to the Minister of Public Order.
From the positions of responsibility he held, he stood up to the web of vested interests nesting inside the state apparatus — through public interventions and through his testimony to the judiciary. The book “In the Tentacles of the State Mafia” (Athens, 1991) is the written record of that path.
Knowledge of the state is the first precondition for changing it.

With PASOK
He served the government of “Change” believing in its vision. When he found that the mechanisms of the back rooms were prevailing, he disagreed openly. In November 1984 he was the target of an anonymous slanderous attack; thousands of officers and police staff sent telegrams of support.
In February–March 1985 his post was abolished and he was removed. He chose political dignity in the face of the establishment — not staying in power.
When disagreement became a matter of principle.
With LAOS
He was vice-president of LAOS. When, in 2011–2012, G. Karatzaferis brought the party into supporting the Memoranda, Klideris left together with those who disagreed. The disagreement did not remain internal criticism; it became a rupture, because principle comes before position.
The same logic leads today to Institutional Refoundation: against the Memoranda that were imposed against the people, a Memorandum of responsibility with the people.
Conflict · departure · political consistency.
